Bilu Huang is a theoretical biologist and interdisciplinary scientist tackling some of humanity’s biggest questions: Why do we age? What killed the dinosaurs? Can we cool the planet? Will we run out of energy?

He proposed a new TRCS aging model of Telomere DNA and Ribosomal DNA Co-regulation Model for Cell Senescence. He also explores geoengineering to remove carbon and nuclear fusion for limitless clean power, aiming to benefit all.

Decoding the Mechanisms of Aging and Age-Related Diseases

My research shows that aging is essentially a genetic program driven by telomeres and/or rDNA through the p53 pathway, rather than the accumulation of damage. Individual aging results from replicative senescence of adult stem cells; and that cellular senescence is co-regulated by telomeres and rDNA through the p53 pathway.

Telomere DNA and ribosomal DNA co-regulation model for cell senescence (TRCS Model)

Through rigorous logical reasoning, Bilu Huang proposed the Telomere DNA and ribosomal DNA co-regulation model for cell senescence in 2021.

TRCS model is preliminarily experimentally validated → 45s rDNA partially KO leads to significant increase in P53, P16, P21 and sa-β-gal and significant decrease in cell passages in human and mice primary cells (unpublished obversation).

Bilu Huang's research suggests that the fundamental reasons for the selective expression of cell differentiation genes may include altering DNA sequences in gene regulatory regions and DNA methylation modifications.

Bilu Huang's research has discovered that each mass extinction and subsequent radiation is related to substantial changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations throughout Earth's history.
